The dental spa
Nov 20, 2008
I don’t know anyone who likes to visit the dentist. I was never a big fan of my yearly trips to the dentist. Especially since as a teenager I wore braces for five years. Over the past few years I’ve noticed that my dentist has slowly turned her office into a dental spa.
When you walk in the lobby you are offered water, tea or coffee, and upon exiting when you pay your bill you can get a nice hot chocolate chip or oatmeal cookie. A few days a week the dentist has brought in a student in the human movement graduate program for back rubs after your dentist visit. So you get a teeth care lesson and a back rub. It makes the drilling a bit less painful.
A friend of mine is getting her physician assistant online degree and told me her dentist office has turned into a semi-spa as well. My friend thinks by the time she gets her health science masters that most Drs. office’s will have a spa feeling.
The dentist visit is not so dreaded when you can relax in a comfy chair and watch your favorite cable station, or just gaze dreamily out the window into the lush tropical garden.
