Everyone who knows me knows that I am a huge fan of recycled art (also called found art or junk art). I just love so many things about taking trash and turning it into a work of art that can be appreciated by others. It’s green. It’s creative. And it’s interesting.

And now I’m taking this passion to a new level by learning more and more about functional recycled art. This is junk art that is not only art but art that serves a functional purpose. For example, I was recently looking at recycled garden wall fountains. This is a garden wall fountain that’s been constructed entirely from repurposed materials. The exterior is a work of art but the piece does serve the function of being a water fountain.

I’m not sure if I’d buy something like this myself. I kind of think that a store-bought water fountain would suit me more if I was actually in the market for one. But I love that these types of things are being created for those people who will use them. They really take the idea of recycling to a more advanced level. Anyone working in this field of art holds a special place in my heart for sure!
