A Blessing or a Curse?

There are a lot of “do-it-yourself” trading websites these days where you can buy and sell stocks quickly and easily. They are attractive to many people because they don’t have to pay a stock broker’s high fees, get someone else involved in their financial decisions, go through a middle man, or wait for someone else to make changes to their accounts.
However, are these websites really a good thing? What we’re seeing a lot of now are people who don’t really know what they’re doing, trying to make really important financial decisions for themselves — decisions that until recently almost always required an expert opinion. Making decisions about your investments when you are clueless about the stock market is kind of like trying to be your own lawyer or doctor. There’s a reason these decisions are usually left to more experienced folk!
This doesn’t mean you can’t buy and sell stocks yourself, though. The important thing is knowing what you’re doing, so the solution is to learn enough about the stock market to make educated decisions about your investments. Plenty of companies, such as Netpicks, offer courses to teach you what you need to know. For instance, check out this Emini futures training course, or this futures trading course.
So, yes, trading websites can be a bad thing when they’re used by the wrong people — but when you know what you’re doing, they can be quite a benefit!
