Nickels and Dimes

By the time my employer takes out all of the deductions on my paycheck, I hardly have any money left over for myself! Well, OK, that’s a pretty big exaggeration, but I’m sure you all kind of feel my pain, right?
Let’s start with the Fl health insurance. We all understand the importance of having Fl health insurance because even a small trip to the hospital can cost thousands and thousands of dollars. And God forbid something major happens like a serious injury or illness! I guess I should be thankful that we have Florida group health insurance, but it is still a big chunk of my check.
Moving on to taxes, we get to my next big beef. There’s no getting around it, we all have to pay taxes. And the harder I work, the more I make which translates into me paying even more taxes. That’s the government’s way of rewarding people for doing well: put them in a higher tax bracket and charge them more!
Why I signed up for the 401K is beyond me right now. Let’s just say that it isn’t performing as well as one might like. But it’s too late to stop having 3% of my pay check deducted. And I’ll get penalized if I bail now, so I can’t. I guess you just grin and bear it as they nickel and dime you to death.
