My kitchen is currently decorated with 1950’s retro housewife decor. However, I’m thinking about re-doing my decor since I’ve had this look for a long time. I’m trying to decide what new decor I might like. What I’m leaning towards is getting kitchenware that is inspired by food products. After all, food is what the kitchen is all about.

What I want to avoid is anything cutesy or country. I don’t want to get a bunch of towels decorated with apples, for example. Instead, I want to try to get kitchenware that’s been inspired by nature’s foods but doesn’t actually mirror those foods.

I think it’s going to be difficult to find what I’m looking for but I’m getting some ideas here and there. I’ve been looking at a line of dishes from a company called Jars Ceramics. These dishes are bold in color but they are basically solid colors. What I love is that the colors have been inspired by some of my favorite foods. One set of dishes has been inspired by lemons, cherries, oranges and eggplant.

The one thing I might get cutesy with is accessories. An avocado slicer shaped like an avocado or a garlic press similarly shaped may appeal to me. I guess I’ll just have to try it out and see if this works as my new decor.
