Make Life Easy On Yourself
May 19, 2009
One of the things that I have learned as I’ve gotten older is that life is hard enough and none of us should be making it harder on ourselves. It’s sad how often people make life tougher on themselves.
We do this in both big ways and small ways. The biggest way that we tend to do this is that we take on guilt for things that we have no real reason to be guilty about. For example, I have been known to make plans that I didn’t really want to keep and then to cancel them at the last minute. Then I feel guilty for not keeping my plans. That guilt could be avoided if I’d just set proper boundaries and say no to things that I don’t want to do without feeling guilty about it.
It’s in the small things, too, though. Last year I realized that putting up Christmas decorations was annoying me because my many strings of Christmas lights were tangled up and difficult to hang. I switched over to easy-to-use net lights and rope lights and made life easier on myself. These little changes are a good way to get started with making life easier on yourself; then you can make bigger changes!

When it comes to putting up Xmas lights, I agree that it just makes sense to keep it simple. Make it easy on yourself.

You know, if you want to make it easy to hang your Christmas lights, you’ve got to store them the right way so they don’t get tangled. It also helps if you have some kind of hooks or something on the eaves of your house to speed up hanging them.

I like those rope lights for Christmas decorations. They’re super-easy to put up and take down and they look beautiful at night.
